EASTWOOD MALL PHOTO GALLERY #2
A/K/A The illustrious Eastwood Mall Ghost Tour.

Webmaster's Note: Sorry, but there are no more tours to be given.  For starters, the mall's interior was closed down in 2004.  Second thing, the mall's no more.  But if you must embark on this tour, I'd suggest starting somewhere around the Wal-Mart 'service desk' and working your way toward the "Radio Grill" ... that way you'll have a feel for roughly where you would've been walking in Eastwood Mall had you not been several years too late.

The following is retained strictly for historical purposes.  Any resemblence to malls - dead or demolished ... and wells - artesian or russell - are purely coincidental.

Thank you for throwing all caution to the wind, and embarking on this journey with me.  I am Russell, your tour guide (tip jar is to the right - kid needs new shoes ... hint, hint, hint)

Before we begin, do remember some rules:
1) No flash photography.
2) No smoking.
3) No smirking.
4) You can touch your significant other ... but touch me, and I'll cold-cock ya!
5) Grease the tip jar every time you hear the words "Eastwood Mall."
6) Put more money in the tip jar.
7) Please.
8) I said please.
9) Well, FINE.  To the back of the line, ya cheapskate!
10) Pizitz is no more.  So please don't ask me about those wonderful fruit-shaped candies their Bake Shop used to sell.
11) There's still room for your money.  Put 'er in da jar!
12) There is no twelfth item.
13) Stupid questions like "When is the Eastwood Mall Theater gonna get Dolby Digital" will only make me angry.
14) Put more money in the tip jar.  My teenage son needs lunch today.
15) No running.
16) No jumping.
17) No skipping.
18) No hopping.
19) No walking.
20) No breathing.

Now that we have the rules understood .... put some more money in the tip jar, and let's go!

The east end of the mall portion.  Books-A-Million is to my left, the inside entrance to the old Service Merchandise is about "4:00"-wise from where I'm standing.  To the far right is the inside entrance to Parnell's ... which closed the week before I took many of these pictures.
Here's the mall entrance to Books-A-Million.

Up until its closing in February 2006, B-A-M did very well here.  And so did Parisian before it closed early in '05.  Both, of course, really didn't need a mall to survive; I've seen both stores with freestanding big-box locations.

My brother used to work at this store in 1990-91 while finishing up college at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Service, my foot!
This is one of those pictures which need no explanation.

But since there are some remedial college students on the tour today, I'll say it slowly:

THIS.  WAS.  THE.  INSIDE.  ENTRANCE.  TO.  SERVICE.  MERCHANDISE.

This was the site of yet another Dollar Tree location.

If you wanted to learn several new cuss words for your vocabulary, you could've asked the clerk how much a given item cost.........

Down the mall
This was looking down the mall from the Books-A-Million/Service Merchandise/Parnell's area.  The palms in the distance were at the food court area in the middle.

(I took this picture in October 2003.  Words cannot describe the spooky feeling I had at this point.  There were no mallwalkers in the area, and no other traffic was in the mall.  There was no "muzak" playing, and virtually no sound, except for ambience coming from Books-A-Million.  As I walked down the mall, I eventually encountered stark silence)

Here we have an old Bath & Body Works store.  A label-scar is somewhat visible above the shuttered entrance.

No, that rank odor is NOT a bottle of their Berry Nutmeg Eggplant Vanilla Mocha antibacterial soap!

New fragrance: NADA!
BBW and L2
Another view of the B&BW store, with what used to be The Limited Too.  I'm guessing, like with other Limited stores adjacent to B&BWs, there was also a passageway between the two stores themselves.
Are you having funOF COURSE YOU ARE!

By the way: THE TIP JAR IS CRYING BECAUSE IT'S HUNGRY.

FEED 'ER SOME LETTUCE AND CONTINUE THE TOUR.......

YOU'RE NOT GETTING A CENT; I WANT OFF THIS STUPID TOUR!
