Eastwood Mall

AUGUST 25, 1960: Birmingham, Alabama laid claim to the first indoor shopping mall in the Deep South.

As expected, a big hoopla was made, and the newspapers were full of advertisements and features.  For August 2010, we at BIRMINGHAM REWOUND are paying tribute to this long-gone landmark and baby-boomer icon, in remembrance of the 50th anniversary of her grand opening.

But don't expect a helicopter -- neither Tim nor Russell have the budget.

NOTE: The full-sized images are BIG - as in 4 MB or more - so if you have a slow connection,
I recommend several Jobs' worth of patience.  These are fantastic advertisements, articles and such,
so I want to have them available in their best resolution.  Files will open in a separate window.

If you'd rather download them for viewing offline or outside your browser, right click on each image to save onto your own computer.  --Russell
